About the Artist

Emma ParkinI was fortunate to have a brilliant art teacher at school who encouraged and inspired me and helped me to experiment with new styles and techniques. He introduced me to life drawing which became a passion: I loved studying the intricacies of anatomy and attempting to translate what I could see onto paper.

But of all the different art forms I tried, I enjoyed illustration the most and my naturally concise and highly detailed style seemed suited to it.

My work has been heavily influenced by artists whose pictures I first discovered as a child in storybooks, from the sometimes dark but always magical, dreamlike illustrations of Arthur Rackham to the exquisite silhouettes and beautiful marbling of Jan Pienkowski.

I remember loving the pictures and wanting to create my own imaginary worlds on paper just as they had.

After school I trained at the Bath College of Art and much later began work as a freelance artist. Since then I’ve taken on many commissions, including book illustration, portraiture, greetings card design, tattoos and various logo designs. I’ve held exhibitions of my work and sell my originals as well as prints.

The collection of prints that I have put together here are some of my favourite pieces from over the years, ranging from the highly detailed, photorealistic style I frequently use for my portraits, to the more expressive abstract approach used creating my collages.

I’m so pleased I’m now able to offer such high quality reproductions of my originals - they are all limited edition Giclée fine art prints, printed on fully archival, acid-free, textured watercolour paper using a vast palette of top quality pigment inks. The colours are extremely vibrant and the blacks are intensely deep - I really hope you enjoy browsing through them!

A lot of my work has sold, but some originals are still available - please contact me if you would like further information.
